Georgia Blueberry Oatmeal

on Friday, May 25, 2012.

Oatmeal is so versatile too.  There is a thousand ways you can make it.  I usually make a big batch and then set out lots of toppings and let everyone fix it the way they like it.

One of Judah’s (my 3 year old) favorite ways is with a sprinkle of brown sugar and topped with fresh Georgia blueberries and slivered almonds.  This is my absolute favorite way to have oatmeal!  Oatmeal is already high in protein so, the almonds only increase your protein intake, leaving you satisfied even longer.  The Georgia blueberries give you a dose of antioxidants and even more fiber without adding more fat or calories (Did you know that blueberries have only 80 calories per cup?)

It is warm, delicious comfort food but it packs a nutritious punch that will keep you full and going all morning long. With chasing two little ones around all day, I need all the help I can get!

Visit WholesomeMommy.com to get my recipe for slowcooker oatmeal.  It literally cooks while you sleep! Breakfast can’t get any easier than that!
